I love golf and particularly club design and i already know what that that’s what i want to do when i grow up for a living. Specifically, what kind of degree should i get to pursue this career. Im pretty sure it is some type of engineering, probably mechanical or materials.
Sorry for any confusion, I intended the question to be for the design of golf clubs as in Drivers and Wedges ect. So what degree should i pursue in order to be a club designer for one of the big companies such as Taylormade or Titleist golf.

Golf club selection can be difficult for seasoned players, and even more so for beginners. There are so many variables in this difficult choice different club types, designs, and features, not to mention your own skills, swing and needs. To help you make a choice, or at least narrow the field, the following information on golf clubs is an overview designed to help you make the right golf club selection for you.

Cast Iron Golf Club With cast iron golf clubs the majority of the weight in the golf club is around the perimeter of the club head. This feature makes the sweet spot larger, which is great for both beginners and those who encounter difficulty making full contact.

Forged Iron Golf Club The choice of professionals due to design and function, the forged iron golf club has a slightly heavier toe, with the center of the gravity for the golf club at the center of the club head. Forged iron golf clubs are an alternative as your experience and skill increases.

Club sizes Golf clubs are available in a range of sizes to suit the player, from standard to midsize, and even oversized.

Standard clubs have a smaller head, meaning a smaller sweet spot as well, and are the usual choice for advanced players and professionals.

The beauty of a midsize golf club is the larger sweet spot for better ball contact. The head size is a little larger than the standard golf club, and these clubs are the best choice for players with average skill as they are easy to control.

If you have a hard time hitting the ball straight, oversized golf clubs are for you. They have a huge sweet spot, and some control is sacrificed because of it, but this does not stop this being the choice of many seniors as the huge sweet spot gives you much longer distance!

This is a story about Fitrah, a young female Indonesian golf caddy who came to Malaysia to change her life. Fitrah left Indonesia in search for a better life for her and her family but only to be locked up and subjected to mental torture. Fitrah was employed by a company that provided caddy services for private golf clubs. She was promised a monthly pay of RM450. But allegedly, the company failed to pay her salary for 18 months — essentially from the time she entered the country and started working. She was also under 24-hour surveillance, 7 days a week and wasnt allowed to go out even during weekends. Her co-workers were subjected to the same treatment. Fitrah decided to escape from the golf club as she couldnt take it anymore. She was only asking for one thing, to be sent back to Indonesia. But she couldnt go anywhere since her passport was held by her employer. With the help of concerned Malaysians, Fitrah is now fighting for her and the rights of her colleagues who are still trapped inside the golf club. Fitrahs story is a classic example of exploitation of foreign labour and of human-trafficking. Extreme poverty in their home country make them easy prey for traffickers who shower them with promises of good money that will help lift their families from poverty. According to US Department of States “Trafficking in Persons Report, Malaysia is now blacklisted for not fully complying with minimum standards to eliminate trafficking and also not making significant efforts

Bill Wright asked:

It can be tricky choosing a new golf club, so why not take a look at some of our pointers below

Whether you are new to the game of golf or a seasoned pro, buying clubs can be a minefield. Golf has grown ever more popular and there is a whole array of equipment to choose from both on the internet and from specialist golf shops. Choosing golf clubs can be one of the most tedious jobs for a golfer, as it can be a laborious task, but it is essential for good play.

• In golf a person can use 14 different types of clubs. Therefore, to gather an effective set of golf clubs, you must primarily acquire an essential knowledge about the different types and specialties of each type of club

• Clubs are generally available in different types namely - woods, irons, wedges, bennets, hybrids and putters. Each club has unique characteristic type of ball movement. The unique combination of the different types of clubs will make a perfect set of golf clubs. The type of club to be used, has to be decided based on various reasons, such as your proficiency in the game and physical characteristics, since a club is not used alike by a beginner and professional. If you are a beginner, learning to play strokes, you could include the hybrid type of clubs, which will make the stroke much easier

• Approach a new golf club with caution. Just because the brand has been heavily advertised does not necessarily mean it is the best. If a golf club is expensive, it has to be for a reason. Is it just because a lot of money has been spent on the advertising of it, or is it actually technically better?

• Shop around ? pick out a club you like the look of and practice a few swings. Check to see whether it is the right weight and length for you. Does the grip hug your palms?

• If you’re thinking of taking the sport more seriously you could look into the possibility of getting some clubs made especially for you. That way you can make sure they fit perfectly. Most golf club sets off the rack are designed to fit the average person, but few of us have an average profile; we all have our own unique shape and size

• Not all golf clubs have top be expensive. If they are, you need to ask yourself whether your level at the game and the frequency you play it warrants paying a large amount of money for them. If you are a beginner, learning to play strokes, you can include the hybrid type of clubs, which will make the stroke much easier

Golf clubs are manufactured to meet the demands of different genders, height and skill level – at one stage the same could be said regarding the aesthetics of golf equipment. Regardless of gender it’s important to remember that in the beginning it’s not necessary to purchase the most expensive range of golf clubs – what is important is selecting a set of ladies golf clubs that match your skill level and purpose – for example clubs which are suitable for learners and/or infrequent players. The most practical advice is start playing with an inexpensive set of ladies golf clubs and advance to the next set of clubs when appropriate to do so.

The following sets of ladies golf clubs are suitable for players starting out in the game or until you can reach a decent handicap at your local golf course. After that goal is achieved it is worth considering the benefits of ladies golf clubs – valued in excess of a hundred pounds. At this stage of your career – it can be advisable to view any new golf equipment before purchasing; online retailers like The Sports HQ provide a factory direct outlet to sample new golf equipment before purchase.
