I was just wondering how airlines would want your golf clubs to be packed for taking on a plane.

There are soft and hard cases for golf clubs. The soft case is similar to a duffel bag, but designed to fit around a golf bag. I’d recommend a hard case, since the top can be secured easily and there’s less chance of your clubs or bag being damaged in transit. The hard cases cost a little more, of course, but are worth it (especially if you have expensive clubs).
TSA typically screens golf bags as oversize baggage since they won’t fit through a standard baggage handling system, but don’t worry about that part. TSA officers are quite familiar with screening golf bags. I don’t know whether you’d be charged extra by the airline, so best to call or check their website.
